Matthew Swartz is an active collaborative pianist and composer based in Claremont, California. His growing body of choral works has been decorated and performed by the Yale Glee Club, Indiana University's NOTUS, McGill University's Schulich Singers, Choral Arts Initiative, the 2019 CCDA SATB Honor Choir, and others.

On May 19, 2024, Claremont UCC premiered Swartz's original Pentecost anthem, "Dawn's Awakening", featuring SATB Choir, SSA Trio, and Organ with a compiled text by Langston Hughes and Otto Bohanan. In July 2023, Swartz was recognized as a finalist in the WACDA Emerging Composer Commission Competition.

Holding a steadfast belief in the importance of choral singing and its many benefits across all ages, backgrounds, and communities, Swartz maintains a rigorous schedule as a collaborative pianist for choirs across the age gamut. Since 2014, Swartz has dedicated himself to all singing grade levels in Bonita Unified School District, including all five award-winning choirs at Bonita High School. Outside of academic settings, Swartz also collaborates regularly with community ensembles such as Claremont Chorale and the Hillcrest Singers. When not residing on a piano bench, Swartz enjoys choral singing himself and has sung with numerous local ensembles including over a decade with Pomona College Choir.

Swartz earned his DMA in Music Composition from Claremont Graduate University (2017) and his BM in Piano Performance from the University of Connecticut (2010).
